Who can become a provider?

Caregivers with experience and heart.

We welcome prospective caregivers who have relevant child care experience and are interested in providing care through our agency. Experience is an important starting point, but it doesn't guarantee acceptance: every applicant must also meet the applicable requirements and complete our assessment and approval process.

  • Previous experience working with children
  • Interest in providing care in your home through our agency
  • Ability to meet the requirements that apply
  • Willingness to complete our assessment and approval process

Documentation and requirements

Applicants should expect to provide the usual documentation required for the application and screening process. Depending on your circumstances and the requirements that apply, we may ask for additional documentation or information during your interview. We'll let you know exactly what's needed as you go, so there's no guesswork.

Home visits and ongoing checks

Our process includes a visit from our home visitor, who helps assess the home and supports safe, appropriate child care environments. The city also conducts routine checks from time to time. Together, home visits and these checks help assess and maintain compliance with the requirements that apply. Timing can vary, and every check doesn't follow the same schedule.

Keep Learning. Keep Growing.

Supporting children means continuing to grow as a caregiver. BeyondCrayons develops its own lessons and courses, released throughout the year, to help providers continue learning, strengthen their approach and stay engaged with our agency's expectations. Providers must have previous child care experience, and required courses must be completed as directed.

Our courses are part of working with BeyondCrayons. They don't replace any training that is legally required.
