About BeyondCrayons

What is a licensed home child care agency?

A licensed home child care agency is an organization approved to oversee home child care in Ontario. BeyondCrayons works with home child care providers and helps connect families with them, following the requirements that apply to licensed agencies.

How does BeyondCrayons help families find care?

Tell us about your child, your schedule and what matters to your family. We use that to help identify suitable provider options and guide you through the next steps, including a home visit. Availability depends on individual circumstances.

What ages do you accommodate?

We offer home child care for children from 6 months to 13 years, including infant, toddler, preschool and school-age care. Contact us to talk about your child's age and needs.

Where do you offer care?

We serve many cities across Ontario. Not sure if your city is covered? Send us a message or give us a call and we'll let you know.

How do I get started?

Complete our enrollment form or contact us. A member of our team will get in touch to learn about your family and talk through next steps.

How can I contact you?

Call us at (289) 275-0008, email hello@beyondcrayons.ca, or use the contact form.

For parents

How much does care cost?

It depends on your family's needs and schedule, so the best way to get accurate pricing is to call us at (289) 275-0008 or email hello@beyondcrayons.ca.

Can I meet or visit a provider before deciding?

Where applicable, yes. Contact us and we'll talk you through how meeting or visiting a prospective provider works for your situation.

What if my preferred provider is unavailable?

Availability varies from provider to provider. Let us know what your family needs and we'll talk through your options with you.

What do I need to bring or complete?

We'll let you know exactly which documents are required once we connect. It helps to have your child's details, your preferred schedule and any information about your child's needs on hand.

What support is available after care begins?

You can contact our team with questions or concerns at any time, and we'll help you work through them. If you're an existing client, we aim to respond almost immediately during business hours (Mon – Fri, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM). For all other inquiries, we aim to respond within 3 business days.

For providers

Who can become a provider?

We welcome caregivers with previous experience working with children who want to provide care through our agency. Experience doesn't guarantee acceptance, as applicants must also meet the applicable requirements and complete our assessment and approval process.

Do I need prior experience?

Yes. Applicants must have previous experience working with children, along with meeting the requirements that apply.

What documents will I need to provide?

Applicants should expect to provide the usual documentation required for the application and screening process. We may ask for additional information during your interview, depending on your circumstances and the requirements that apply. We'll guide you as you go.

Who checks the home after I'm approved?

Our process includes a home visitor, and the city also conducts routine checks from time to time. These help assess and maintain compliance with the requirements that apply. Checks don't all follow the same schedule.

What training and support do you offer?

BeyondCrayons creates its own lessons and courses, released throughout the year, and providers complete required courses as directed. We also aim to stay in touch and offer guidance on agency expectations and processes. Our courses don't replace any legally required training.

What will I earn as a provider?

Compensation arrangements are discussed with applicants directly. Contact us to ask.
